I'm not scared of spiders but...

You know when you climb you normally do alternate leads?

Well, yesterday, it was more about the alternative leads through the lady-eating spider cob webs.

Stone valley.

Home to awesome climbing, awesome views and spiders that weigh probably half my weight.

And there is nothing worse, when you are casually minding your own business and being a 'dutiful belayer' when you suddenly refocus to the rim of your baseball cap and see one of the big buggers casually running around it......

...Fran, very nearly removed my 'dutiful belayer' badge.

Not so much as the wrong trousers but...

...the wrong everthing.

On Sunday, if I could, I would have put the fire on for the first time.  It was baltic :(

On Monday, Neill & Di, met at Dunkeld.

Knowing how cold it was on Sunday, Di wore the wrong trousers, the wrong thermal, the wrong hat, the wrong fleece and the wrong socks :(

On Tuesday, Neill & Di went to Ardverikie.

Di wore the correct trousers, the correct thermal, the correct hat, the correct fleece and no socks :)

Feeling smug, they bailed to the 'coe for another forecasted 'custard pie' day on Wednesday.

I was utterly disgusted as the rain pelted off the attic windows in Lagargargh this morning.

That most definately wasn't on the forecast....

*hurrumph*

Lizard Killer

There are a few phrases that send shudders down your spine when climbing.

One of those phrases is "OH NO!"

And then you see it.

Flying through the air at Mach 2 completely out of control.

The little lizards who had been getting on with every day life, eating ants and sunbathing, were now taking flying lessons as Derek's ropes unintentially flicked them off the cliff.

I had never been to the Pyrenees before now.

Lots of information available if you want to go walking but desperate trying to find out any informatin for climbing or mountaineering.

My pigeon French is...pigeon.... so having a guide book in French was only of some use when it had pretty pictures and I was armed with a dictionary :)

Its like new routing but not......if you know what I mean.....

For information about the Pyrenees, not mentioning killing lizards, go to http://www.digilbert.co.uk/newsarticle.asp?id=95.

Sensible V's Rebelious

The sensible Di very much thought that it would be prudent to remain in the UK to ensure that she was available for wobbly house concerns.

The rebelious Di very much thought that the wobby house wasn't going anywhere and heard the Alps calling.

You really don't have to know Di very well to figure out which one won .........
