16 January 2021 will go down in mountaineering history: K2, the last eight-thousand metre peak unclimbed in winter, was conquered by 10 Nepalese mountaineers from different expeditions to the mountain. We were concerned by the large number of mountaineers involved, the crowding in the upper camps and the controversy that often accompanies both failed attempts and major achievements. But once again Nirmal Purja amazed us all.
