Evie Cotrulia is a woman of many talents: as well as being an excellent climber and a big part of Team Scarpa, she is determined to close the gender gap within the climbing industry. Alongside acting as fantastic role model for aspiring female climbers, Evie and her friend and colleague Emma Twyford have set up a new business, Creative Climbing. Creative Climbing’s goal is to provide workshops to teach route setting to women. The inaugural workshop was held in March with great success and aplomb.

At the end of 2017 Scarpa Athlete Uisdean Hawthorn spent 3 months touring Tasmania; climbing anything he could get his hands on and running up or through everything else- a relaxing holiday it was not. His highlight of the trip was tackling the famous Totem Pole. A 65-meter sea stack coveted by climbers across the globe.

Scarpa Athlete Tom Grant skis mountain sides so steep that a fall would be fatal and where avalanches and falling rocks are an ever-present threat. Previously we have interviewed him on the Scarpa Blog; detailing his groundbreaking first descent of the Caroline Face on Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak.

Featuring in the ‘Winning Mentality Podcast’ and interviewed by his friend Charlie Boscoe. Tom describes in personal detail that steep ski down the Caroline Face as well as what drives him to push his limits and the boundaries of ski mountaineering.

Dan Mcmanus is a climber with a wealth of experience climbing in Yosemite National Park, especially on EL Capitan. In past trips Dan has free climbed El Capitan via Freerider, partner-free -in a grueling 22 hours. Last Autumn he headed back to the USA to take on ‘The Shaft’ on the Muir Wall of El Cap with Maddy Cope, here’s his account of his trip to the big wall in California.

Scarpa UK Athlete Uisdean Hawthorn is a mountaineer and keen mountain runner. He recently completed what is likely a speed record for a winter traverse of the Cullin ridge. On his feet were a pair of Scarpa Ribelle Tech OD’s paired with some Grivel G20’s. Read on to hear more about his achievement and we will take a deeper look at Scarpa’s radical, new mountain boot.

This weekend is the CWIF 2018; one of the UK’s top bouldering comps attracting some of the best climbers from across the country and abroad to compete at The Climbing Works in Sheffield.

Scarpa will have a large homegrown contingent this year including Michaela Tracy, Nathan Phillips, Matt Cousins, Dave Barrans, Gaz Parry, and Hamish Potokar. They will all be hoping to match or better their fantastic performance last year.

It’s also worth keeping an eye out for some Scarpa international Athletes like the brilliant Jerneij Kruder.
