Keeping the kids entertained over the school holidays can be a challenge, especially with the unpredictable British weather. So why not take the whole family on an adventure!

Conquer one of the three peaks!

Imagine being a child and standing on the top of a mountain. That feeling will stay with you for the rest of your life!

It seems like a daunting challenge, but there are family friendly routes up Snowdon, Scarfell Pike and even the UK’s highest point; Ben Nevis.

The key to making the ascent of any of the big three is preparation. Making sure the whole family has the right clothing and footwear will be the difference between standing, looking over an amazing view and turning back cold and with sore feet!

Even on the warmest of days, the peaks can be cold, wet and wintery. Taking lots of layers for the whole family will keep you going even if the weather takes a turn for the worse.

Some comfortable and sturdy footwear will keep you going all the way to the top. Make sure you check for fit and comfort before you set off!

Did you know all of our kids walking boots and shoes are built to the same technical standards as our adult versions?

Take the speed up a notch!

Is walking too slow for your family? How about trail running?

Trail running has all the benefits of walking in nature, but with a bit more speed. If your kids tend to get bored on walks, trail running can be a great alternative.

It is also a cheap activity, which needs very little kit. Just lace up your shoes and get going. There are loads of great locations around the country which are family friendly and for all experience and fitness levels.

Learn to climb

Family friendly adventures don’t have to be far flung destinations taking up days of your holiday. You can find adventure close to home, in most towns and cities around the UK.

Indoor climbing centres have reopened and are again offering beginner sessions aimed at kids. This can be a great introduction to climbing and a great rainy day activity.

Climbing is not only great exercise for kids, it is also great for teaching problem solving skills. Once they learn indoors, there is a wealth of fun family adventures to be had.

Our kid’s climbing shoes start at size 27-28, so even your little ones can join the fun!
