Katy Forrester

I started climbing aged 16, with the school climbing club. I had lots of support from my teachers who really encouraged me. I was hooked and life has been built around climbing.

University was picked because of climbing, all my holidays have been chosen because of climbing, where I live, what job I do! Climbing and the mountains have been the main focus of my life.

I used to compete and was part of the GB bouldering squad and Ice Climbing Team.

Life became more complicated in June 2016 when I had my daughter Ada. Now climbing is still important but everything is a bit more difficult..

In the next few years, other than being a mum I’d like to move on with my climbing. I’d love to do the three 8’s E8, 8a and 8A, be confident again in winter. Ive always wanted to do some Alpine climbs. I’d love to get more confident on skis and I have some long distance runs here in the Lakes I’d love to do

I’m an allrounder, so I do a bit of everything. Being based in the Lake District I do a lot of trad, fell running and bouldering with some winter climbing and sport thrown in too.

-Favourite Scarpa-

This is a tough one to pick. The Oxygen GTX approach shoes have saved my socks on more than one occasion! The Rebel Ice is just so good. But really my favourites are the Booster S. I’ve worn them on all my hardest routes, and when I’m a long way above my gear I know my feet are going to stick.

-No Place too Far-

Out at the crag, or on a fell accompanied by my Labrador, Jadey.
