Michaela Tracy

I have been climbing as long as I can remember; climbing feels as natural to me as walking, and I love all aspects of the sport - from adventure climbing to competition bouldering. In every discipline I seek to challenge myself; to find the same creativity, freedom of expression and joy of movement.

Five years ago I started competing internationally for the GB Bouldering Team. Since then I have travelled around the world twice, to places as remote as India and Japan, competing in the IFSC Bouldering World Cup. For the first time last year I finished the season ranked within the top ten in the world. This year I look to build on that performance and continue to push my boundaries, both in competitions and outside on rock.

-Hometown-

Sheffield, South Yorkshire

-Projects-

Competition, bouldering, sport, trad-climbing, high-balling, and fell running.

-Successes-

Overall 8th IFSC Bouldering World Cup 2017 | “The Dark Room” Odin’s Cave - V11 | “Love Amongst the Butterflies” Cheedale Cornice - 8b | Multiple E5s onsight including “Hunger,” “King Wad,” “Out of my Mind” and “Trilogy"

-Favourite Scarpa-

For indoors: definitely the Drago. Comfortable, versatile, great on volumes. - For sport: Booster S. Lightweight, great edges, super-sensitive. - For bouldering: Chimera. Perfect for toe-hooks and heel-hooks, an all terrain shoe, and it looks super cool.

-No Place too Far-

I’d buy a van, pimp it out, and go on a permanent climbing trip. With a van you can go anywhere, and you can follow the weather. I’d probably start with Europe: Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy; but I’d love to drive to Morocco as well. I even know some people who took theirs on a boat to America!
