Mountain Accordion Man : Carmine De Grandis

SCARPA Athlete Carmine de Grandis is known as the Mountain Accordion Man.

He plays a piano accordion that his father bought him when he was growing up in Tornareccio, Italy. After his father died of cancer in 2020, Carmine began carrying his father's accordion with him into the mountains, either carrying it and playing on the summits or running and playing during mountain races. In doing so, he reconnects with his father and reflects on his own spirituality, playing music that reminds him of his roots.

In May 2027, he will attempt to cross the stunning yet treacherous Celestine Pass in the Majella Mountains of Abruzzo, Italy.

This is a wild mountain-running challenge, and nobody has ever attempted it while carrying an 8kg accordion on their chest.
