This September we gathered some of the Scarpa team in the Lake District for our Rock Athlete Meet. With team bonding, a look at some of our shoes and of course, plenty of climbing in the Lakes.
Joining us from Scarpa HQ was rock shoe designer Nathan Hoette.
Nathan along with climbing legend Heinz Mariacher are responsible for creating your favourite Scarpa shoes. The team were psyched to hear from Nathan and shared his infectious enthusiasm for climbing.
The Scarpa UK team and Nathan gave the climbing team a thorough history of Scarpa and demonstrated some classic climbing shoes and some brilliant adverts from yesteryear.
A look into sustainability and our Green Manifesto was followed by a sneak peek at some brand new climbing shoes – coming to the Scarpa range next year – so keep your eyes peeled for those.
The team were taken through the Scarpa range and were able to get up close with the parts which make up their favourite climbing shoes.
With as specific look at the various uppers, mid-soles and outer soles which come together to create some of our performance shoes – the team loved getting hands on!
These deconstructed shoes gave the team an insight into why certain shoes perform the way they do and which shoes they should choose for different climbs.
After a full day in the showroom going through the Scarpa range the team were eager to try them out on rock. On the Sunday the team headed to Kentmere to try their hands at some of the local boulders.
