I’m really proud of my win at Coledale Horseshoe in 2023. I hadn’t gone aiming for anything, just to enjoy the race out – I loved it during the run and didn’t realise I’d won until the marshals timing at the end congratulated me.
The same year I went out to Italy for my first World Skyrunning champs and came home with 8th in both the VK and Classic courses, definitely an event I’d hope to race at again.
Why do you run? What do you love about trail running?
Since being at uni running has become my way of burning off a long day sat working. I love heading around the trails or onto the moors for a change from the city. A long day on the fells helps me stay grounded, more so when it’s dry, and it’s such an easy way to get out somewhere new.
Which Scarpa shoe is your favourite?
Without a doubt the Spin STs, although the Spin Planets come in a very close second. I’ve raced trails, fells and mountains in Europe between the two pairs and they’ve become my go-to when packing for any race or holiday, not got a bad word for either pair!
Tell us about your best day running
We had an epic day as a family a couple of years back heading up Scafell from Wasdale side. The summit was empty, maybe because it was absolutely freezing, but the snow was perfect, and you could see for miles every direction. It’s hard to pick, every other day ends up being my favourite, although you can’t go wrong with a loop up Blencathra!
What do you do away from your sport?
I’ve got big on climbing again, bouldering mostly, and it’s now a regular chill time with friends for a couple of hours each week. I really enjoy my uni course or if I need a complete break I’ll rewatch films- Sherlock or Derry Girls are usually safe bets on the film of choice.
