Quickly establishing itself as one of the best climbing shoes, the groundbreaking Instinct VS offered a rounded array of attributes. From a mastery of hard face and roof climbing to an unshakably reliable heel, the VS was a near unstoppable machine. By developing the VSR, SCARPA created a dynamic duo of foot tools purveying the same universally acclaimed fit and base attributes, yet each with its own key variant: the outsole. The harder, stiffer Vibram XS Edge toting VS, boasts unsurpassed precision and support, being the go-to model for edging or sharper rock types. While its sibling, the VSR, is a pure weapon armed with Vibram XS Grip 2 - making it perfect for smearing, plastic (indoor climbing) and finer grain rock types.

UPPER

Multi-panel upper (6) for best custom moulding fit. Full microfibre upper with a single Velcro strap and a deep Y attachment for secure hooking.

TENSION

Bi-Tension

The Bi-Tension System extends from the toe to the arch, providing high flexibility with optimal tension.

MIDSOLE

Half-length Flexan 1.0mm insert spreads the force in the forefoot and allows for excellent flexibility in the rear of the shoe.

SOLE

3.5mm 1/2 length XS Grip 2 sole with a hand-constructed 2mm XS Grip heel.

IT CAN BE RESOLED

This shoe can be resolved at one of the official SCARPA resole shops. We recommend resoling before the wear and tear is excessive to preserve performance and prolong the life of your shoe or boot. Check out the full list of authorized centers on the store locator.

BI-TENSION

Thanks to the rubber that wraps around the foot along both sides of the shoe, it provides support without compromising sensitivity. This system is a perfect fit for slightly asymmetrical models, as it extends from the toes to the heel, leaving the middle part free for more sensitivity.
