Tara Hayes

Tara has climbed since the age of 8 quickly getting into competitions and made the GB youth team ages 11, starting with lead and transitioning to bouldering at age 17.

She finished her junior career with a 2nd place at the Youth World Championship in China in 2016. From there she continued competing as a senior member of the GB team for another 5 years.

After 14 years of competing Tara decided to switch things up and transition to outdoor bouldering - climbing her first 8B/V13, Fat Lip in 2023. She also got the first female ascent of Isles of Wonder (8B/V13) which remains unrepeated by another woman.

The last year and a half has been marred by injury and surgeries meaning climbing has taken a backseat - but after recovering from a second surgery Tara is back and ready to progress her climbing journey targeting some new 8b+s,.
