Ted Kingsnorth

Based in Manchester, Ted is a keen sport climber and boulderer known for his dedication to long term projects. He is a geography teacher by trade and but gets out regularly to the crags and trains hard in his spare time. Ted's roots are in trad climbing and mountaineering but in the last 12 years, he has sent four routes of 8c+ standard and maintained a high level in bouldering up to 8A+.

Ted has travelled extensively and is known for multiple trips to Smith Rock in Oregon, USA repeating the classic routes To Bolt or Not to Be 8b+ and Just Do It 8c+. He recently fulfilled a long term goal of visiting Hueco Tanks in Texas, enjoying sending some of the famous crimp testpieces from the 80's and 90's. Ted enjoys regular winter trips to Margalef and Suirana in Spain while the UK limestone crags are out of condition climbing routes up to 8b+. During the summer, Ted often goes to Ceuse to sample the perfect limestone of the Hautes-Alpes, sending the classic Violent Illusion 8b at Cascade Sector last year. 

Ted is currently working on Jerry Moffatt's classic power endurance route 8c+ Evolution at Raven Tor and has made good progress over the last 2 years, getting closer to the full link. He enjoys being part of the Peak District limestone scene and mentoring younger climbers, sharing a rope with anyone who is keen to get stuck in to a project at their limit.
